IOA Gives Accreditation To Saina Nehwal’s Father

After ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal threatened the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) that she will not play matches if her father’s accreditation was not cleared, IOA gave in to her demands and gave accreditation to her father. After IOA’s move, Saina thanked the body for clearing her father’s accreditation in a short notice. Nehwal even apologised to the body for causing trouble. Taking to Twitter, Saina wrote, “Thank u so much @ioaindia for the support and help sorting out my father’s accreditation card in such short notice ..Hopefully it will b great for the matches ahead ..and I m sorry for all the trouble #CommonwealthGames2018.”

Earlier in the day, Saina Nehwal demanded accreditation for her father in Gold Coast ahead of the CWG games. In a letter to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) General Secretary Rajeev Mehta, Saina Nehwal said that if her father’s “accreditaion is not cleared, she won’t play matches.”

Earlier, after Republic TV highlighted that Saina’s father was travelling as part of Indian contingent as a CWG official, he was denied access to the Games Village. After his name was dropped, Saina Nehwal issued a set of tweets venting out her anger over her father’s name allegedly being cut from the Officials list of the Commonwealth Games in Australia’s Gold Coast, which will begin on Wednesday.

A massive outrage over the issue has broken out after a family member of the star player was allowed to travel with her as a part of the Indian contigent as a CWG official.
